What is BZN™ 9100?

 

Hyperion Materials & Technologies manufactures specialty thick-layered poly cubic boron nitride (PCBN) full round and cut tips for tools used in machining hardened ferrous materials. Hyperion’s BZN™ 9100 offering is the primary specialty thick layered option manufactured and sold as carbide-supported cylinders inserted into endmills.

 

BZN 9100 is a pre-form blank and cut tip part with exceptional hardness and wear resistance properties. It’s a single-tool solution that helps machine harder materials at higher speeds, providing a better surface finish and consistent and repeatable performance. It also dramatically improves the tool’s lifespan of hardened ferrous materials. Thick BZN 9100 is commonly found in milling applications comprising pearlitic gray, hard cast, and sintered powder metal iron materials, which are developed into tools for the automotive, aerospace, tool and die, and general industrial industries.
