Hyperion touts industry-leading can tooling at Cannex & Fillex
Hyperion Materials & Technologies showcased its industry-leading can tooling for the metal packaging industry May 1 to 3 at Cannex & Fillex 2019 in Denver.
“Being at Cannex & Fillex is always important for us, and the Denver show was especially key to meet our American customers,” said Lluis Miñarro, Hyperion’s Segment Manager for Can Tooling. “We’ve been doing a great job with local technical sales support and service, and the delivery times from Barcelona, which is our main can tooling facility, have been improving. Customers are satisfied.”
Miñarro added that American clients have been offered to try Hyperion’s DZ18 patented material, which offers three to four times the increased tool life of conventional grades and increases plant efficiency thanks to its light weight. DZ18 is already widely used in Europe and is being introduced in Asia.
“The many stakeholders in the industry — metal suppliers, original equipment manufacturers, engineering companies and integrators — consider Hyperion to be the can tooling benchmark,” Miñarro said. “We thrive in our role as the partner who empowers our customers with the finest products, from idea to end solution.”
Hyperion in recent years has been offering can tooling solutions to support canmakers on developing new can formats and downgauging projects, thanks to its exclusive partnership with Lieb Performance Systems (LPS). In 2016, the company expanded its Can Tooling Global Competence Center in Barcelona. At the site of a can tooling production facility, the dedicated R&D carbide laboratory develops new carbide grades for can tooling and supports canmakers on material testing and failure analysis.
Cannex & Fillex is a major international showcase for metal packaging manufacturing and filling technologies. Industry leaders attend to exchange information, discuss the latest developments, explore new technologies and meet like-minded people from around the world. The trade show, combined with The Canmaker Technical Conference that runs during the show, is billed as “The World Canmaking Congress.” The Canmaker, a monthly business intelligence publication for the metal packaging industry, sponsors the event, which has taken place nearly every year since 1994 in different locations around the world.
